Many antibody responses rely on protein folding and are based on conformational epitopes. Such epitopes can hardly be determined with standard peptide microarrays based on linear peptides. Rituximab (Rituxan™), a therapeutic monoclonal antibody directed against the extracellular domain of the CD20 antigen, is known to recognize a conformational epitope. Exemplified by Rituximab, the webinar will introduce you to PEPperPRINT’s high resolution conformational epitope mapping with PEPperCHIP® Peptide Microarrays comprising cyclic, conformational constrained peptide antigens. In addition, the identified Rituximab epitope was further characterized by detailed substitution scans revealing variable and conserved amino acid positions as well as tolerated amino acid exchanges.
About the Presenter
Dr. Renate Sekul received her PhD in Biochemistry in 1989 from the University of Cologne, Germany. Since then, she worked in different pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the field of peptide and small molecule drug discovery in various indication areas. She is an expert in pre-clinical drug discovery, and her research fields comprise peptide synthesis and characterization, protein biochemistry, biochemical assay development and profiling of drug candidates as well as the development of array-based screening techniques. She has a profound expertise in array based screening of pharmaceutical target proteins and antibodies using small molecule and peptide microarrays. She is co-inventor and owner of several patents for peptide and small molecule drugs. Dr. Sekul joined PEPperPRINT in 2012 as head of R&D and is responsible for the exploration and implementation of new applications for peptide microarrays.
